When you sign up for ResumeRocket using Google OAuth, we collect:
- Your name and email address (from your Google account)
- Profile picture (from your Google account)
- Google account identifier for authentication purposes
Resume & Career Information
To provide our resume building services, we collect information you voluntarily provide:
- Personal details (name, professional title, phone, location, websites)
- Work experience (job titles, companies, descriptions, dates)
- Education history (institutions, degrees, achievements)
- Skills, certifications, and professional competencies
- Professional summary and career objectives
- Custom resume sections you choose to add
- Cover letters and associated content
Usage & Payment Information
- AI feature usage (requests count, feature types used)
- Template selections and customization preferences
- Payment transaction records (processed securely through Paystack)
- Referral activity and associated codes
- Feedback and testimonials you voluntarily submit

Resume Building & AI Enhancement
We use your career information to generate, optimize, and format professional resumes. Our AI features — including content generation, ATS score checking, resume critiques, career path analysis, and interview preparation — process your data to deliver personalized recommendations.
Cover Letter Generation
Your resume data and job descriptions you provide are used to generate tailored cover letters that match specific positions.
Job Matching & Recommendations
With your consent, we analyze your skills, experience, and preferences to suggest relevant job opportunities.
Account Management
We use your email and authentication data to manage your account, maintain your session, and communicate important service updates.
Service Improvement
Aggregated, anonymized usage data helps us understand how users interact with our features, allowing us to improve the platform experience.
Payment Processing
Payment information is securely processed through our payment provider (Paystack) to handle template purchases and subscription upgrades. We do not store your card details directly.

Your career details are sent to our AI provider to generate professional resume content, summaries, and bullet points tailored to your experience.
ATS Optimization
We analyze your resume content against job descriptions to score ATS compatibility and suggest keyword improvements.
Resume Critique
Your complete resume is analyzed by AI to provide detailed feedback on content, formatting, and impact.
Career Path Analysis
Your work history and skills are processed to map potential career trajectories and skill gap recommendations.
Important Note on AI Processing
Your data is processed by third-party AI services (such as Google Gemini) solely for the purpose of generating resume content and career recommendations. We do not use your personal data to train AI models. AI-generated content is provided as suggestions — you maintain full control over what appears in your final resume.
4. Data Storage & Security
We take the security of your data seriously and implement industry-standard measures to protect it:
Encryption
All data is encrypted in transit using TLS/SSL and at rest using AES-256 encryption in our database.
Secure Infrastructure
Your data is stored on MongoDB Atlas with enterprise-grade security, hosted on cloud infrastructure with SOC 2 compliance.
Authentication Security
We use OAuth 2.0 via Google for secure authentication. We never store or have access to your Google password.
Access Controls
Strict access controls ensure only authorized personnel can access system infrastructure. Your resume data is accessible only to you.
Hosting & Deployment
Our application is deployed on Vercel with automatic security updates, DDoS protection, and edge network distribution.
5. Data Sharing & Third Parties
We do not sell your personal information. We only share data with third parties when necessary to provide our services, as described below.
We may also disclose information if required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of ResumeRocket, our users, or others.
6. Your Rights & Controls
You have full control over your personal data. Here are your rights:
Access Your Data
View all personal information we hold about you through your profile and settings pages.
Edit Your Information
Update your personal details, resume content, and preferences at any time from your account.
Delete Your Data
Request complete deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting our support team.
Export Your Resumes
Download your resumes as PDF files at any time. Your data is yours to take.
Control Sharing
Manage shared resume links and revoke public access to your resumes at any time.
Withdraw Consent
Decline or withdraw your privacy policy consent at any time, which will sign you out of the service.
8. Data Retention
We retain your data as follows:
- Account Data: Retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all personal data will be permanently removed within 30 days.
- Resume & Career Data: Stored as long as your account exists. You may delete individual resumes and cover letters at any time through the dashboard.
- Payment Records: Transaction records are retained for a minimum of 7 years as required for accounting and legal compliance.
- AI Usage Logs: Daily AI usage counters are reset automatically. Historical aggregate usage data may be retained for platform analytics in anonymized form.
- Privacy Consent: Your privacy policy acceptance is renewed periodically (every 365 days) to ensure continued informed consent.
9. Children's Privacy
ResumeRocket is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 16, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make material changes:
- We will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.
- For significant changes, we will notify you through the platform or via email.
- Your continued use of the platform after changes indicates acceptance of the updated policy.
- We may ask you to re-accept the privacy policy for material changes through our in-app consent dialog.
